Harry Connick Jr. named 'Idol' judge
New Canaan resident Harry Connick Jr. will join Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban on American Idol‘s newest judges panel.
In an announcement on Tuesday, the jazz musician and actor, who previously served as a mentor on ‘Idol,’ said he was “honored . . . to be a judge this season.”
“As an entertainer, I am truly excited to bring my perspective to ‘American Idol,’ and to help emerging performers find their way,” he said.
Fox also announced the return of Randy Jackson as the show’s in-house mentor and Ryan Seacrest as host, dubbing the five stars the “American Idol XIII Dream Team.” Production of ‘Idol’ season 13 began this week in Boston.
Connick Jr. has lived in New Canaan for years, and has actively participated in town life. On Sept. 29, he and fellow resident Paul Simon will play a charity tribute gala for New Canaan’s Community Emergency Response Team and Staying Put in New Canaan.
